Exchange Analytics Inc., the premier provider of training courses for the futures and derivatives
industry, announces the launch of a web-based course for Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs).
It is the first course available for satisfying the training requirement of the U.S. Commodities Futures
Trading Commission’s (CFTC) new Customer Protection Rules, which took effect in January 2014.
The new Customer Protection Rule requires Futures Commission Merchants (FCM) to provide
annual training to all its finance, treasury, operations, regulatory, compliance, settlement and other
relevant officers and employees (Reg. 1.11). The training covers the handling of customer funds,
procedures for reporting suspected breaches of policies and procedures, and the consequences of
failing to comply with the segregation requirements of the Act.
Similar to other Exchange Analytics compliance courses, its Customer Protection Rule online
training course is interactive, offers easy-to-use features and audio to make this 45-minute course
simple to understand and use.
“The CFTC has put forth this important rule to promote the financial stability of the derivatives
markets, and significantly strengthens customer protection,” said Larry Israel, president of
Exchange Analytics. “We have designed this course to thoroughly cover the requirements of the
rule and offer our FCM customers a method to efficiently and cost-effectively provide this training
to their employees.”
Marc Nagel served as an expert to Exchange Analytics in the development of the Customer
Protection Rule training course. He is a former chief compliance officer of a major FCM, attorney
and CPA. Mr. Nagel serves on the Nominating Committee and Futures Commission Merchant
Advisory Committee of the National Futures Association, and the Advisory Board of the Illinois
Institute of Technology’s Chicago Kent College of Law Futures and Derivatives Conference.
Exchange Analytics’ web-based Customer Protection Rule course is the latest addition to its family
of compliance training and education which includes ethics and anti-money laundering (AML)
training.
